Experience with swine is required, experience with swine anesthesia is strongly preferred.   Clinical skills, to include animal restraint, diagnostics, administration of medications, sample collection, anesthestic and surgical support. A thorough government background check will be required.   About The Project   Three of the top five preventable causes of battlefield death (extremity hemorrhage, junctional hemorrhage, noncompressible torso hemorrhage) rely on rapid vascular access to initiate Advanced Resuscitative Care (ARC). Current Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) guidelines stress the importance of initiating resuscitation within 30 minutes of wounding. However, the massively hemorrhaged patient, such as dismounted complex blast injuries (DCBI), presents a vascular access challenge to even the most seasoned medical teams.   This study will focus on generating a knowledge product informing both military and civilian pre-hospital and trauma providers on the optimal intraosseous blood product infusion strategy. An understanding of how to obtain flow rates rapid enough to preserve life and minimize secondary complications due to the shear stresses of high infusion pressures has the long-term impact of improving survival for those requiring care within the first 20-30 minutes from injury.
